Master Class 1 - Raw Hair Preparation Basics and Tipping/Re-tipping Hair Extensions

Authentic Locks have been in the industry for over 10 years, and we pride ourselves in holding rare qualifications in hair preparation which delve into historical methods of drawing hair and colour blending. Very few people in the UK have such in-depth knowledge.
Our knowledge and teaching means that our raw hair preparation courses will enable you to work with and prepare raw hair to the highest standards in the industry.
Certainly, from the past few years, we have started to realise we cannot always rely on China to be the only source of production in the hair world. There has also been a massive surge in the hair extension and hair loss industry in the last decade.
This is causing many supply and demand led price rises and lots of competition in the market...
Salons and technicians are of course still needing to make good profits from hair for suppliers are struggling to make profit with ever rising costs of raw hair, then the increased production costs.
Due to the above we have seen a steady increase in the number of salons that want to work with Raw Hair.
These salons (if you have seen some of them about), charge big ticket prices for custom making hair extensions and/or wigs, and rightly so. These salons are still making high profits and have big spenders. People will pay for handmade customised hair, as it is an art.
Salons and technicians also enjoy the benefits of being able to re tip their own hair for customers meaning they are not only not having to pay someone else to do this, but their client does not have to wait for hair to be sent off and returned. This can be a lovely gap filler where you are earning more money into your pocket!
Some of our students have gone on to offer retipping as a business service to other extensionists and this runs very well for them with a good hourly rate and hardly any start-up costs/outlay.
The truth is that if you are buying good quality bulk hair it is only going to be of a cheaper cost if you are buying it in its single–drawn original format. Lots of people in the UK over the last few years are complaining of hair quality decreasing, and hair getting thinner on the ends than in previous years. If you understand the market and the hair preparation process, you will understand the reasons behind this and how you can work with bulk hair yourself to counteract this.
Course details
This is a 6.5-7 hour course (1 day) where you will learn everything about creating your own hair extensions from loose bulk hair. This includes how to handle bulk hair and simple drawing. You will also learn about hair types, mixing colours and lot of other knowledge. This course is suitable for anyone, you do not need to have any experience with hair.
The price for Master Class is £850 (121 tuition held at our Leeds base)

Master Class 2 - Hand Tied Wefting
Why choose this course?
Hand tied wefts have rapidly risen in popularity over the last decade.
One big attraction for clients is they are a handmade item so this gives them the flexibility to pick and source exactly what hair they are made from meaning when these are hand made in the UK, they can literally hand pick their own hair if someone has stock there to show them (many high end salons now work like this).
The client is a lot more likely to pay a high-ticket price for this purely because it is a handmade item and certainly, if they can see the stock beforehand, they have more of a guarantee what their new hair will be like.
Hand tied wefts are also very appealing to clientele who are spending a good amount on high quality hair due to their reputation of not shedding. No client wants to spend money on top quality hair for it all to shed and them constantly be having to top it up.
Our course will also enable you to produce highlighted wefts for your clients
You can make wefts to any choice of mixed shades or piano blends, whichever suits your client’s needs.

The demand for people who know how to hand tie wefts is now rising rapidly. Some people learn and simply offer very successful re-wefting / hair wefting services. Or they are making money out of purely making wefts from bulk hair from scratch and selling and/or fitting them. Many high-end salons are selling these bespoke items at very high-ticket prices now, making hand tied wefts a very profitable skill!

Master Class 3 - How to Create True Double Drawn Hair (Without Hackles and Waste)
Why choose this course?
More and more salons and extensionists are looking to save money on hair and are wanting to buy hair in its bulk form. However, if you want very high-quality hair at a reasonable price, you are generally only going to be able to obtain this in its single drawn state.
The difference in cost can be huge in high quality hairs such as Russian, and European with double drawn hair costing often over double the amount of single drawn. This is because you are effectively paying for someone else to do the labour for you, and deal with the shorter hair waste/loss.
Due to luxury hair now being in very high demand the cost of true double drawn hair is now sky high.
If you see hair that is super thick to the ends at a cheap price, then you really need to be concerned about the quality. Unless the price ticket is very high you will find most fully Double drawn hair around in the UK market is non remy. It is also very unlikely to be of Russian or European origin (even if this is stated), unless the price is extremely high!
The industry is now seeing a large decrease in true double drawn hair
Most hair on the market labelled as double drawn is actually a good natural ratio/medium drawn.
This can sometimes be an issue if your client wants a super full look as you will have to pack more hair in (meaning hair extensions can become visible and too much bulk on the clients’ head) and/or you are having to cutting length off to get rid of the thinner taper on the ends of the hair.
If you don’t do this when your client wanted a thick finish, as the hair wears it will start to look thin and tatty on the ends and it will become quite obvious to them that the hair was not true double drawn hair.
This means that salons/hair extension technicians in the UK that have affluent clientele will highly benefit from being able to use raw hair that can be fully double drawn. This will make you stand out from the current market and is a hue high ticket selling point. Stand out as an advanced technician and offer your clients that little bit extra!
This course is also an absolute must if you are wanting to launch your own luxury bulk hair range!
